Me, the Blogger

What do you think about your blog?

Positive:

1) I Finally found a header image that I decently liked. I struggled with the aesthetics this year. I wanted to find something that was simple but wholesome. Every time I would find a decent header image, it wouldn’t fit in the screen, or it would look really blurry and stretched out. About a week ago I decided to give it another search, and I stumbled upon the picture that is the current header image and thankfully it worked out well. Overall, the color scheme of the blog seems to be slightly too dark for me, other than that, I happy with what I have.

2) Some of my best writings are on this blog; the blog really pushes me to write – and not just write for the sake of writing, but to write with meaning. Having a blog creates a conscious awareness that others will read what I have written, and it motivates me to put effort and time into writing.

3) I love the layout of my blog; I find it user friendly and easy to navigate, at the same time, it allows me to organize all my pages and presents a polished blog. I also have a lot of options regarding the header images, backgrounds, side bars, etc. It allows me to characterize the blog according to how I want it to look.

4) I also like that my blog is full and looks used. I decided to keep most of my pieces from last year and I added some from Ap English; overall there are quite a few posts and it gives the blog a wholesome look.

Need to Improve:

1) Organizations of the pages need to be better; I’m still trying to figure this out, there seems to be some technically mishaps regarding my pages. Since I’m planning to continue with this blog, I need to make some modifications. I will be omitting some pages, like the comments page, to avoid overcomplications. I’m planning to convert the Reading Ladder page to a Reading Recommendation page. It will have monthly records of all the readings I have been doing; however, they are all going to be spiritual readings (articles, other blogs, novels, etc.)

2) I want to be posting at least once every week. This semester, I fell behind with posting, and it was overall difficult for me to write creatively. However, I will try to write everyday, and through inspiration, I would like to upload new posts every week.

Which student blogs impress you the most – add your favourites as Links on your sidebar or footer.

1) Nazeefa – Suggested Simplicity

Nazeefa impressed me so many times during class sharing; I love her writing, the voice in her writing is powerful, and she has such brilliant and inspirational ideas. Intrigued, I visited her blog and was amazed with her pieces. Everything was very well articulated and organized; if there is such a thing as writing integrity, her blog would be the perfect example. Nazeefa, if you by any chance read this, I want you to know that your writing is impeccable; keep up the extraordinary work, wishing you all the best!

2) Jed – Lost Amid the Skies

Jed’s soft-spoken poems always gave me goose bumps; I sometimes would forget that this was the student that played the beast in the play. I’ve read many of his poems, but my favourite part of his blog is the title Lost Amid the Skies. From the title I was inspired and wrote a poem, here’s an excerpt: “Lost amid the skies/ in a world of ambition and hope/ lay’s the dream/ of an adolescent.” Jed, if you by any chance read this, I wanted to thank you for being an inspiration! Wishing you all the best and follow your dreams!

3) Abhay-Hidden Shades of Passion

I had the great honor of meeting Abhay last year in creative writing class. Back then he used to be a shy little kid barely breaking free from the shell. Latter we were in the same class AP class, and through all it all I’m amazed at how much he has grown. I’ve been a huge fan of his writing; there is something about it that is very authentic, heart moving, and raw.  Abhay, if you read this, I wanted you to know that you’ve gotten immensely immature (😊); nonetheless you’re an incredible student with incredible talent in writing, wishing you all the best!!

What professional bloggers have you explored?

1)Christianity Today – every since I wanted to start a Christian blog, I’ve been browsing through the internet for various Christian blogs. Christianity Today is a quite popular site which presents topics such as theology and spirituality, church life and ministry, media and culture, and politics and current affairs. They have posts on various controversial topics and features their online magazine. I’ve been inspired with great ideas from this blog.

2) Lexi’s Clean Kitchen – at church my house is known as the social hub; everyone loves to come over for the food. My mom is an amazing cook and I love to cook (although I make more inedible food than actual food). Lexi’s Clean Kitchen is one of our favourite blogs that we frequently visit for simple and easy, healthy snacks.
